Better Retirement is a personal financial planning app built using Flutter. We help you model and plan your retirement using tools that simulate investment growth, salary changes, and employer matching.

We do not offer financial advice, banking, or investment services.

2. What Information We Collect

a. Personal Information

We collect limited personal information when you use the app:

• Email Address (only if you sign in with Google, Apple, or other OAuth providers)
• Firebase User ID
• Display Name (optional)
• Timestamps for account creation and login
• Anonymous Sign-in is also supported — no personal info is required

b. Financial Data (entered manually by you)

All financial information is optional and entered manually, including:

• Age and retirement age
• Annual salary and salary growth expectations
• Starting investment balance
• Contribution types, amounts, and frequencies
• Employer matching info
• Investment return assumptions
• Contribution limits
• Tax-advantaged vs taxable account preferences

We do not access your bank accounts or transaction data.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used only to perform retirement calculations and show projections. We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising.

Specifically, we use your data to:

• Generate retirement projections and charts
• Save your contribution plans and settings
• Sync your data across devices (if signed in)
• Improve the app based on anonymous usage trends

4. Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

• Saved settings and projections are stored securely on your device using SharedPreferences.
• In-memory data is used during active sessions.

Cloud Storage (Optional)

If you sign in:

• Your data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore, a secure and encrypted cloud database.
• Authentication is handled via Firebase Auth (Google, Apple, or anonymous).

All data is encrypted during transmission and at rest.

5. Anonymized Data & Analytics

We may anonymize and aggregate user data to:

• Understand financial planning trends
• Improve default assumptions and features
• Conduct non-personal research

We never store or share data with personal identifiers.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have full control over your data:

Access

View and manage all your projections and settings in the app.

Edit

Modify any financial information or account data at any time.

Delete

You may:

• Delete specific projections manually
• Delete your account (if signed in), which removes all data from Firebase
• Clear all local data via app settings

Export

You can export your projections in a readable format (e.g., JSON).

7. Third-Party Services

We use:

• Firebase Authentication (for secure sign-in)
• Firebase Firestore (for secure cloud storage)
• Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (for anonymous app improvement — no personal info is collected)

We do not allow advertising or tracking from third parties.

8. Children's Privacy

Better Retirement is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may occasionally update this policy. We will notify you in the app if we make any material changes and ask for renewed consent when required.
